The Ending Cycles of Violence Program is our overarching, evidence-informed curriculum for high school aged youth consisting of three, or five to 10 sessions. By creating a safe space for educators and youth to delve deeper into exploring root causes of violence and violence prevention, students will come away with: 

  • a new understanding of establishing, asserting and respecting personal boundaries 
  • the ability to critically analyze media stereotypes; perspectives on how cultural norms reinforce violence in our communities 
  • new tools to interrupt cycles of violence

RTS educators can also be booked for staff workshops and other school events.

RTS has paused its prevention education services in schools. While this is temporary, we do not yet have a date when these will be reinstated.

  • Three Sessions

    During this interactive three-session curriculum, students cover the following themes:

    Consent -- What are the four components of consent? 

    Teen Dating Violence -- What is a healthy relationship and who are trusted adults teens can turn to for support?

    Prevention Strategies -- What can students do at this age/grade level to help prevent violence?

  • Five Sessions

    RTS educators expand on our three-session curriculum by introducing the topic of trauma. Students learn best practices for supporting Survivors and hear about the effects sexual violence has had on a Survivor Speaker. 

  • 10 Sessions

    Our most comprehensive curriculum for High School students, our 10-session curriculum broadens students' understanding of sexual violence through immersive activities. Building on topics covered in the five-session curriculum, students participate in a role playing activity designed to put them in the shoes of someone who has experienced trauma. Additionally, RTS educators lead students through a critical analysis of the media coverage of a well known sexual assault case that took place in the Bay Area. 

  • Professional Workshops for School Staff

    RTS facilitates professional workshops with school staff regarding:

    • Consent & trauma basics
    • Supporting survivors & handling disclosures
    • Human trafficking & commercially sexually exploited children (CSEC) per the 2017 CA Human Trafficking Prevention Education and Training Act
    • Reporting protocols in San Mateo County
    • Developing protocols for sexual assault/harassment incidents at school events
  • Resource Fairs

    RTS provides information about our services at resource fairs or other school and community events.

  • Documentary Film Screening

    RTS educators are available to support students and staff during screenings of film documentaries regarding sexual violence and to facilitate discussion of the film afterward.

Changes/Reschedule Policy

RTS educators have a variety of responsibilities outside of the classroom (advocacy, crisis intervention, accompaniments). As such, we will do our best to honor requests for rescheduling or changes to presentations that are asked with a minimum of a two week notice but cannot accommodate requests with less than a two week notice.
