Advocacy Program Manager, Bilingual Spanish/English Required

Hours: Full Time (40 hours per week)/Exempt
Compensation: $80,000 - $85,000/Year DOE+ 5% pay differential for bilingual Spanish/English fluency

Advocacy Program Manager Job Description:
The Advocacy Program Manager is a position that requires an innovative, passionate yet pragmatic individual. This role is responsible for overseeing the advocate team and providing crisis intervention and advocacy for survivors and others who have been affected by sexual violence in San Mateo County, with an emphasis on children who are at risk of or are identified survivors of commercial sexual exploitation (CSEC). The Advocacy Program Manager will facilitate prevention and community education, including but not limited to CSEC 101 and Trauma Basics. Under the supervision of the Deputy Director, the Advocacy Program Manager will provide phone and in-person crisis response, program coordination and other services throughout San Mateo County.
The primary responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to the following:
- provide crisis intervention, crisis counseling, advocacy and accompaniment
- develop systems to improve workflow and documentation of services
- supervise and coordinate staff advocates
- train and onboard new staff advocates
- provide daily support and weekly team meetings for case consultations and mentorship
- assign staff advocates to work with youth who are at risk of CSE and need ongoing support
- schedule advocates for accompaniments
- maintain a caseload of youth who are CSE
- attend Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) and Child Family Team (CFT) meetings for commercially sexually exploited children (CSEC)
- collaborate with Social Workers to complete RTS action items resulting from MDT meetings
- coordinate with Child and Family Services (CFS) and other service providers to ensure CSEC contract objectives are met
- coordinate PREA communications, including:
- maintain PREA follow-up list and ensure proper documentation
- assign and support staff for follow ups
- ensure timely reporting to San Mateo County PREA Coordinators
- complete monthly reports including narrative description of the program activities, objectives and goals
- answer crisis line calls and meet with walk-in clients during business hours, as needed
- maintain a positive, professional working relationship with volunteers, clients, the general public, agency staff and community partners at all times
- perform administrative and operational tasks such as copying, stocking informational packets, and sharing office coverage (e.g. answering phones)
- provide backup for RTS’ 24/7 crisis line, including overnights
- adhere to all RTS personnel policies and protocols
- perform other agency responsibilities as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent career experience required
- Native level of fluency in Spanish required
- 2-4 years of experience providing crisis intervention
- Passion for working with and empowering youth
- Strong, dynamic public speaking and training skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including ability to listen, clarify, validate, and respectfully challenge
- Strong organizational skills, ability to manage multiple tasks
- Excellent writing skills
- A creative thinker who is able to translate RTS’ mission, vision, and values to a wide array of audiences
- Experience in leading and facilitating trainings
- Experience in a management role desired, preferred
- Self-motivated and a team player; ability to work in a fast-paced and evolving environment
- Must bring an eager and open-minded attitude, including the ability to problem solve as needed
- Must be comfortable working in a small team environment
- Interest in and commitment to developing or expanding trauma-focused counseling and advocacy skills
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including some weekend and evening hours to finish projects on time
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PPT), Google Suite and other commonly used applications
- Valid California driver’s license, insurance, and reliable access to transportation
- Must have the ability to establish rapport with diverse groups and individuals
- Familiarity with San Mateo County and community resources
Salary/Benefits:
$80,000 - $85,000/year + 5% pay differential for bilingual Spanish/English fluency, DOE. Benefits package includes 20 days of PTO accrued/year, retirement plan, healthcare, vision and dental.
