Hours: Full Time (40 hours/week) /Exempt

Salary: $68,000 - $72,000/Year DOE + 5% pay differential for bilingual Spanish/English fluency

About the Prevention Education Program
The Prevention Education Program is responsible for providing a variety of preventive and educational presentations to San Mateo County schools, community organizations, and individuals affected by sexual abuse/assault. The major components of the program include the following:
- Ending Cycles of Violence-A Personal Choice: a series of interactive presentations for teens exploring the effects of trauma, cycles of violence, and the healing process
- Rape and Violence Prevention: interactive presentations and school-based programs designed to teach rape and violence prevention through exploration of issues such as gender socialization and causes of rape/violence
- Community Education: presentations to community organizations and community members on a variety of topics including RTS services, signs of trauma, and community resources
- Professional Trainings: trainings for service providers and professionals in topics such as trauma basics, responding to disclosures, reporting protocols, and RTS services
- Outreach to Under-served Communities: collaboration with the agency’s existing programs to conduct outreach to under-served communities in the county.
Prevention Education Program Coordinator
The primary responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to the following:
- Coordination of all agency preventive and educational presentations, including:
- Promoting prevention education workshops and programming to various sectors of the community including schools and community organizations
- Scheduling and confirming workshops
- Developing, tailoring and updating curriculum as needed
- Providing presentations to various sectors of the community including schools and community organizations.
- Provide mentorship and coordinate orientation and training for new staff
- Support and provide guidance to RTS educators
- Monitoring progress and compliance with the Program’s Funding Sources by: tracking the number and types of presentations, coordinating program budgets, compiling accurate data and narratives for program activities, goals, and needs for grant reports and proposals.
- Coordinate the implementation of program evaluations (both internal and grant funded required)
- Lead collaboration efforts with other County agencies and schools in order to increase outreach and services in the County
- Direct Services: Share duties on the 24-hour crisis line, provide counseling, and other direct services such as accompaniment, advocacy, etc.
- Create content for social media posts and presentations, the quarterly agency newsletter, and other print and online literature
- Perform administrative and operational tasks including routine office tasks and provide leadership as appropriate to contribute to the operation and growth of the agency.
Qualifications
- Minimum experience of two years providing outreach, education, and program coordination
- Strong, dynamic public speaking and training skills
- Very strong interpersonal and communication skills, oral and written, including the ability to listen, clearly state needs, compose documents, etc.
- Ability to develop and communicate a project plan effectively
- Ability to address crises and problem-solve effectively
- Ability to work under pressure, manage and meet deadlines
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to balance autonomy, accountability, and collaboration
- Commitment to developing or expanding trauma-focused counseling and advocacy skills
- Fluency in Spanish language strongly desired
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent informal experience
- Willingness and availability to work flexible hours, including some weekend and evening hours
- Valid California driver’s license, insurance, and reliable access to transportation
Salary/Benefits
$68,000 - $72,000/Year DOE + 5% pay differential for bilingual Spanish/English fluency, DOE. Benefits package includes 20 days of PTO accrued/year, retirement plan, healthcare, vision and dental. RTS is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
