What We Do

Rape Trauma Services of San Mateo County strives to eliminate all forms of violence, with a special focus on sexual assault and abuse. Informed by our understanding of traumatic experiences and cycles of violence, we facilitate healing and the prevention of violence through the provision of counseling, advocacy, and education. We promote and adopt policies, practices, and the social values rooted in fairness, equity and inclusiveness.

Our programs include:

24-Hour Crisis Line  – (650) 692- RAPE (7273) – RTS provides a free, 24-hour, confidential crisis line for anyone who has been hurt by sexual violence.

Accompaniment and Advocacy – Counselors are available to support and accompany survivors through dealing with hospital medical legal exams, law enforcement, and the judicial system.

Counseling Services – To help survivors through the healing process, RTS provides individual counseling as well as support groups for survivors and loved ones.

Prevention & Education Programs – RTS educators focus on preventing violence throughout San Mateo County through educational workshops in schools and community settings. Services include: (a) Prevention Education; (b) Self-Defense & Assertiveness Training; (c) Community Education & Outreach; (d) Professional Training.

Services for Children – RTS provides direct services to address the multiple healing needs of child survivors of sexual trauma.

Veteran Services – RTS provides trauma-informed sexual assault services to women veterans living in San Mateo County.

Programa para Latinos – RTS provides all of our services in Spanish with linguistic and cultural competence. Our bilingual multicultural staff and volunteers provide services with sensitivity of the unique experiences of Latina and Latino survivors and their loved ones, as well as the Latino/Latina immigrant community.
